Happy Anniversary to my wonderful husband. I love you . Life with you has given me all I will ever need. God has blessed us with love and strength to weather all the storms in this life. As we grow old together I will remember and cherish the memories we have made . I know we have so much more to experience so hold on for the ride. I believe the second half has many treasures in store for us. We have only just begun! I love you Hon.

Happy Birthday Owen

Its not every day someone comes into your life and touches your heart. We enjoyed the time we had with Owen and the memories will stay fresh in our hearts. We hope to stay in touch with Owen and maybe some day we can be together again. He is a very special boy. We shared with him, and he with us. Its doesn't matter what nationality we are we all have the basic needs. Love and understanding, patience and kindness. We will miss having Owen with us and pray he will be safe and happy in his country.
I'm greatfull for this experience. This is just another gift I have been given in my second half.

On July 14th, 2007 our exchange student arrived from China. He is 13 years old. He will be staying with us for 3 weeks. We are really having a great time with him. We are teaching him American culture. He is teaching us the Chinese culture. What a wonderful experience. Our food is very different from the food in China but I think he likes a lot of it. As the weeks go by I will up date the blog sharing with you the things we do together. Tonight we went to the batting cages. That was fun. Here are some pics of the host family and student picnic.

summer flowers

Okay so its not a vineyard. Its a grape vine . But we have put a lot of love into these little grapes. This is the first year in three that it produced grapes. We don't expect to bottle wine yet but a few for the eating would be nice.

I think someone else would like to sample these grapes. Its the little guy on the vine. We are trying hard to save our little grapes from these nasty creatures. Wish us luck! Another day another challenge. Anyone who can give us advise on keeping beetles away please post. Thanks

Theses shots were taken the morning after my first photography class at MCCC. My neice told me about the class. It sounded interesting so I decided to go with her. I need as many classes as I can take. Since I got my camera I have only taken shots on auto settings. It is so much fun and very challenging taking manual shots. There are so many things to learn. Photography teaches you to look at things differently. You learn to appreciate beauty while enjoying quiet moments in this fast paced life. "Stop and smell the roses".

getting started

June 27, 2007

I have decided to call my blog the second half for a few reasons. First and fore most is the fact that I am in the second phase of my life. I am a mother of 3. All my children are grown now and I have four beautiful granddaughters. Seeing life again through a child's eyes is such an awesome experience. It brings back moments from my children's lives with the advantage of lifes experiences. Secondly, I have developed an interest in photography. Which brings me to this blog. I feel it will be fun and helpful to post my pictures. So I will get started very soon. Of course alot of my subjects will be my grandchildren and my cat Marley BOB, the puff ball. The nickname came from the little girls. When you see him you will understand! Pics to follow.
